Back in the one of the World's leading Hospitality Business Schools, we got acquainted with an image. This image symbolizes the way a Business Model is generated. From a place of significant confusion, misunderstanding of concepts, uncertainty and unclarity one gradually moves to a steady place with a clear concept and a goal. We are currently - yet again - in the midst of that process with M-Management Solutions. I personally did not understand this illustration presented by our coaches in some courses. Now I do. I see it as putting together as a puzzle. It is a better aphorism in my opinion. As with a jigsaw puzzle, we start with an idea (the image on the box). It seems clear and simple. Getting the pieces out of the box, realizing that there are so many of them and starting to organize them is the same as building the different Building Blocks of the business model; gathering information about the customer preferences and fine-tuning the Value Propositions - getting all the pieces sorted out (same as looking for corners or edges first while assembling a jigsaw puzzle); and assembling the puzzle is like putting it all together in your business plan and strategy. The challenge of the real life Business Model jigsaw puzzle is that some of the pieces are constantly changing the image on them. Go solve that one.
